Accessorizing with JORD for My Kentucky Derby Party
We're already halfway through May, I cannot believe it; days are flying by! Summer will be here before I know it, even though the temperatures here in Houston already feel like it's arrived. I've mentioned previously that Spring is my favorite season due to the colors and floral prints, but another reason is because of the Kentucky Derby! Last year I threw my first Derby party and it was such a success that I decided to make it an annual party. The actual reason I love the Derby isn't because of the horse races, it's because of the attire, food/drinks and decorations. The Kentucky Derby is THE event I look forward to once Spring rolls around! This year, I would say I had the perfect outfit. I loved my dress, hat and the JORD watch tied my whole look together!

I want to tell y'all about this wooden watch that's everywhere on Instagram right now - JORD watches. It is THE trend for Spring and Summer 2017! The watch accessorizes so well with different outfits and can be dressed up or down! I've obviously dressed it up in these photos for my Kentucky Derby outfit and I feel like it's the perfect accessory for this look.
Honestly, whenever I hear about a wooden watch, I think about splinters, but that's not the case at all here! The strap is just as comfortable as a leather watch and the wood is hand finished and pretreated with oils, giving it a polished look. I love that the wood is Zebrawood, rather than a solid color, it gives it a little more oomph. Don't get me wrong though, I also love the simplicity of this watch, which allows it to be worn for years to come, as well with it currently being right on trend. I chose the champagne colored face because it's so versatile and can be worn with everything! I only own a handful of watches, so this is why whenever I do purchase one, I make sure I am able to wear it with numerous outfits.
I was very excited when I received my JORD watch and luckily I didn't have to wait for long either- shipping was extremely fast! When I opened my package, I was very impressed. The packaging is absolutely sublime. You can tell that each and every watch is packaged with great care and not just thrown together.

Kentucky Derby Party
The Kentucky Derby party was a lot of fun once again this year! I have shared some pictures below of my party decorations. All of my ideas come from Pinterest, but a majority came from Hostess with the Mostess blog. There are several different printouts and party themes/ideas on that blog AND they are free!! I am a DIY person, rather than buying something, I'd rather make it myself, which is what I do whenever I throw parties. I made a paper flower backdrop for this past party and I made all of the flowers myself. It took a lot of time and sure I just could've bought them somewhere, but it's rewarding to me when people are in awe over how pretty they are and I can say "yeah, I made that, NDB😂". One year, I will actually go to the Kentucky Derby, but for now I enjoy throwing this annual party!🐎🐎
